Artist's Statement
Hello, My Name is Teresa Rose French. I am a very versatile and prolific artist and designer. I studied with Sharon Stawnaker for seven years in the late 1970s and early 1980s where we had a museum restoration project. I learned all types of restoration, wood carving, and lathe work. I carved many fingers, toes and angel wings. But, I worked with many mediums, Along with wood, also finishes on wood and metal and metal work, mold making, casting and pottery. I finished my studies building and restoring Victorian ginger bread fret work on porches and fine interior and exterior architectural woodwork.
I worked in the new furniture market for about 5 years after my apprenticeship. In 1986 I started my current business French’s Furniture where I restore and build fine furniture. In my spare time I sculpt, paint, create jewelry and found items collages that I market in art shows and galleries around Texas.
I live in a small lake town, Gun Barrel City, Texas.
